Aiming at the main requirements of our agricultural sustainable development and the
international frontiers of agro-ecological research, and taking agro-ecosystems as research
objects, this Center puts emphases on the studies of material cycling within the ecosystems and
its regulation, regional soil environment and remediation of contaminated soils, and microbial
resources and agricultural biotechnology, with the objectives of exploring the main ecological
processes of agro-ecosystems, building up their healthy management models, establishing key
techniques for the restoration and reconstruction of degraded agro-ecosystems, and providing
important referential basis for the safety in agricultural production and the construction of agro-
ecological environment.

 

    Its recent concerns cover the mechanisms of soil degradation and restoration, the development
and application of environmentally friendly slow and controlled release fertilizers, the regulation
of water cycling processes in Soil-Plant-Air (SPA) system and the key techniques of water
saving, the remediation of contaminated soils, and new types of biological preparation and new
microbial fermentation techniques.
