Aiming at the national strategic demands of forestry sustainable development and environment
construction and at the frontiers of international forest ecology, this Laboratory presents a
collective scientific endeavor to carry out original researches on the patterns and processes of
forest ecosystem, sustainable management of forest resources, vegetation and regional eco-
construction of degraded ecosystems, and forest landscape and regional ecological security to
lay foundation of decision-making in forest ecological engineering.

    Currently, the main study areas of the Laboratory include the patterns, processes and
management of forest ecosystem, the effect of forest landscape variation on environment and
corresponding feedback mechanisms, the restoration and reconstruction of typical degraded
ecosystems, and the construction and management of shelter forest systems.
