This Station (42¡ãN, 122¡ãE), the former Ganqika Sandy Land Ecological Experimental Station, is at the edge of southeastern Keerqin Sandy Land in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and was established in 1988. It researches the forest ecosystems on sandy soil, with focus on the conservation ecology of remained rare natural broad-leaved forests, the stability of planted forests (especially Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica), the effects of climatic change and human activities on ecosystems, and the construction and high-efficient use of forestry eco-engineering, aimed to provide scientific basis and technical support for the conservation and sustainable management of ecosystems on sandy soil.
